About the Company

The Soundtrack Studio is a soundtrack production company ran by the young professional Daan van Keulen.

He has been producing in a variety of genres from an early age. From experimental electronic music, to trance and to soundtracks, he always tried to create musical pieces which carries a certain emotional, mysterious or uplifting feeling.

The key elements of his music are strange, experimental, electronical sounds, combined with sampled piano and orchestral pieces, to create this unique atmosphere you will only hear in his pieces. Slow but intense buildups with the use of subtle changes are recurring elements in his musical pieces.

Inspirations

Music in media has always been one of his main interests. Whether it was the emotional music pieces in adventure and story based games or the suspense based soundtracks of action and thriller movies, it had always grabbed his attention.

Music from many movies, games and series inspired him: The great suspense created by the score of the Bourne movies; the dreamy, slow vibe created by the soundtrack of Drive; the dark, eerie vibe of the soundtrack of Twin Peaks; or the wonderful combination of electronics and guitar in The Last of Us. It has never been unlikely for him to enjoy the soundtrack even more than the game or movie itself.

It inspired him how small musical pieces in media can bring across certain emotions to viewers without them even noticing it. The sometimes subtle way a soundtrack adds such a big value to an entire piece of media, inspired him to create soundtracks himself.

Musical Style

He has a good ear for creating the ideal fitting piece for a piece of media. In his musical pieces you can clearly hear the influence from the soundtracks of movies and games. A slight influence of trance music can also be heard, through the various melodies in the music pieces. Besides this, many influences from other music can be heard in his music, through, for example, orchestral and choir sounds.

Above all, this makes the creation of various different soundtracks possible, driven by the creativity, eagerness and perseverance of this musician.

Creation of a Soundtrack

The Soundtrack Studio has a professional setup containing high quality speakers and a professional digital audio workstation, in which a variety of different synthesizers and sounds are being used.

We are very eager to try many different sounds and techniques in the music we create, which makes us always push the limits as to what is musically and technically possible.
